GARLIC IN AQUAPONICS PART 2
So, the next lot of Garlic was planted on the 25th of April. This is the recommended time to plant by most gardeners. Same Tassie variety and same growbed. I probably should have tried another variety also to compare. Being Tasmanian, it probably prefers more colder weather.
Anyway, they have been in for 33 days now. The growth of the biggest is about half of the size of the Garlic planted in March after 24 days. (Read Garlic Part 1 if you havn’t already.) The real answer will be the difference in the size of the cloves at the end of the growing season. Just because the leaves have grown taller doesn’t mean that the actual clove has done the same. The energy may have been concentrated in the root system rather than the tops during the colder month. In saying that, it hasn’t really been that cold in Perth so we will have to wait until September/ October for Garlic Part 3. The harvest!!
